A LIFE REMEMBERED

Honouring a life filled with purpose, grace, intellect, and steadfast faith.

“

Mahiva's Story Forghab Mahiva Mongmoh, affectionately known as Mahiva, was born on 10 January 1998 in Yaoundé, Cameroon, to Mr. Forghab Timothy Chiatia and Mrs. Forghab Agatha Ntemyi. From childhood, Mahiva was known for her calm nature, intelligence and maturity beyond her years. She was kind, compassionate, loving and genuine, with a remarkable ability to make people feel valued and cared for. She was someone who would always show up for the people she loved. Mahiva attended Government Bilingual Primary School, Yaoundé, and Christian Comprehensive Secondary School, Nkolmbong, before pursuing higher education at the University of Bamenda. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Communication and Development Studies and later completed and defended her Master's degree in Communication and Development Studies. She was deeply committed to her studies and passionate about communication, writing and meaningful expression. Her professional journey took her through communications, media and content-related roles before she joined MTN Cameroon in January 2026, serving with the Yaoundé Activation and Provisioning Team within the Customer Experience & Services Department. She was remembered for her dedication, humility and commitment, making a meaningful impression on her colleagues during her brief time with the organisation. Beyond her formal career, Mahiva was creative and resourceful, exploring interests in barbing, graphic design, MC services and surprise-gift creation and delivery. She enjoyed reading, motivational writing, handball, exploring different cultures and spending time with family and friends. Her Christian faith was central to her life. A member of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, she was also a committed member of Christian Youth Fellowship (CYF) Bastos, Yaoundé, where she served with humility and dedication. Mahiva passed away in Yaoundé on 25 August 2026, following a brief illness, at the age of 28. Though her life was short, her kindness, faith, creativity, warmth and willingness to show up for others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Forever loved. Forever remembered.

WORDS OF REMEMBRANCE

“A life is remembered not only by the years lived, but by the lives touched along the way.”

“My dear friend, adviser and sister Your absence hurts in a way words cannot explain. It is painful knowing that I can no longer call you, talk to you, see your smile, or hear your advice. There is an emptiness where your presence used to be, and no words can truly fill it. You may have left this world, but you will never leave the hearts of those who knew and loved you. I will carry your memory with me, the friendship we shared, the lessons you taught me, the advice you gave, and the beautiful person you were. Sometimes life feels unbearably unfair, especially when we lose someone who still had so much to give. But even through the tears, I am grateful that our paths crossed. I am grateful to have known you, to have called you my friend, my classmate, and my little sister. Forghab Mahiva, you will be deeply missed. Your voice may be silent, but your memories will continue to speak in our hearts. Your journey on earth has ended, but the impact you made on the lives of those around you will remain. Rest peacefully, my dear friend, my little sister, my classmate, and my adviser. 🕊️💔”

“Mahiva, your departure leaves behind a silence that words can hardly interpret. Some lives are remembered because of the positions they held or the things they possessed; yours will be remembered because of the goodness you carried within you. You had a soul that seemed naturally inclined toward others kind, industrious, compassionate, and generous to the point of keeping your heart open even when you had little to give. There was something profoundly beautiful about the way you made yourself available to people. In you, kindness was not merely a virtue you spoke about; it was a way of being. I remember our time with the refugee service, particularly that MHPSS session when, after completing your degree, you willingly offered to assist me. You did not have much experience in that field, yet you came with a heart ready to learn and serve. You gave those women your time, your presence, and your compassion. Perhaps, at the time, we saw it simply as helping with a session, but in the economy of God, acts of mercy are never insignificant. I believe those women may forever remember those two days not necessarily because of what was said, but because someone came, listened, cared, and treated their pain with dignity. That was Mahiva. You carried dreams of becoming a successful woman. You dreamed greatly, and you worked toward those dreams with determination. You were building, preparing, becoming. And perhaps the hardest question grief asks is this: Why would God allow you to leave just when you were beginning to reap what you had sown? We may not possess an answer that can satisfy the heart. Scripture itself teaches us that God’s providence is often a mystery to us: “My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.” Yet our faith does not require us to pretend that death is easy to understand. Christianity gives us permission to weep while still hoping. Mahiva, you did not live long enough to see every dream fulfilled, but a life is not measured only by what it finishes. Some people plant seeds whose harvest they never personally see. You planted kindness, friendship, service, courage, and hope in the lives of others. Your story, therefore, does not end where your earthly journey ended. What you gave continues in those you touched. In that sense, your life remains a testimony: that a person can leave this world having made it a little gentler for others. We mourn you because you mattered. We remember you because your presence was a gift. And as Christians, we entrust you to the mercy of the God whose love is greater than our understanding and whose promise in Christ reaches beyond the grave. May the God who knows every hidden dream, every sacrifice, every act of kindness, and every tear receive you into His peace. Rest, Mahiva. Your dreams may have been interrupted, but the goodness you sowed was not wasted. May your life remind us that we are not promised tomorrow, but we are given today and what matters is what we choose to plant in the lives of others while we are here.”

“Saying goodbye to you is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. You were more than a best friend; you were my chosen family, my anchor in the storm, and the person who knew me better than anyone else😔. Your laugh could light up the darkest room. We shared countless moments of pure joy that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. You stood by me through thick and thin, never judging, always listening, and offering a shoulder to lean on. The kindness, warmth, and love you showed everyone around you will never fade. You made people feel seen and cared for😭 Your immeasurable love towards me was out of this world😭 how I wish we are traveling to Santa for a wedding and not a burial. Your Godson Simone will miss you so much Mahi❤️”

“My "twin sister" in your mom's voice A sister CYF Bastos gave me. It is still so difficult for me to believe that you are no longer here. Since the 25th August 2026 my heart has been filled with sadness and disbelief. This particular wound you left in my heart will take long to heal. Your mother always called us “the twins.” And truly, we were like twins. Where one was, the other was never far away. We understood each other, supported each other, and shared a bond that words can hardly explain. Your departure has left a space in my heart that no one can fill. I wish I could hear your voice again. I thank God for giving me the privilege of knowing you, and sharing part of life's journey with you. I am grateful for every memory, every laugh, every prayer, every meal, every conversation, and every moment we had together. Rest peacefully, my dear friend. Rest peacefully, my sister. Until we meet again, you will forever be remembered May your beautiful soul rest in the bosom of the Lord. Amen.”
